Tidal pools in Botany Bay near Port Renfrew inspired a series of abstract impressions to capture the power and beauty of water in its full wildness on coastal Vancouver Island. The name comes from a story about the Indigenous people in this area.

People of the Seafoam 3

24” x 36” Mixed Media on Canvas. $1300 CND

Pacheedaht means people of the seafoam, these original people live in this intensely beautiful area on San Juan Bay in Port Renfrew. It is a gift to be in this region so close to nature. The paintings speak to me of the wildness of water, one of its many personalities, they bring that vibrant quality into any environment.

The Great Awakening

30” x 40” Acrylic on canvas. $1800

Deep into the pandemic when the world seemed to be shattering into bits these few large paintings emerged telling a story of transformation. As the world we know became increasingly seemingly fragmented, undone, all reason ripped apart, the light still shone through and in pockets even became brighter. This is a potent story of the time we have all been through, which in the end I believe we will all be better for having experienced.

Second of the large paintings done during the pandemic in 2021 when the battle of fear against love was at its most intense, love still always came out on top. Even amidst change and disruption in our darkest times love is still the choice, it just comes through if we stay open.

San Juan Wind #1

30” x 30” Mixed Media on canvas. $1350CND

Living on Vancouver Island for the last 30 years has provided me with endless opportunities to discover new wilderness areas, the San Juan Wind series was inspired by many visits to the Port Renfrew region on the south coast. Wind is the element of the North West in Vastu Shastra, it has movement, attracts positive relationships and successful communication.

Odin the Unknowable

12” x 12” Acrylic on birch cradleboard $295

This sweet little painting with its unicorn colours would look charming in so many placements and any orientation. She was named as part of the Rune Series, this is the blank rune, both the beginning and the end. “ This is the rune of total trust and should be taken as exciting evidence of your most immediate contact with your own true destiny which, time and again rises like the Phoenix from the ashes of what we call fate”

The Ravens Song

12” x 12” Acrylic and mixed media on birch cradleboard. SOLD

This little gem is one of my favourites but I would let it go if someone loved it as much as I do. She came together smoothly in one of those times of flow and spoke to me as clearly as the call of the raven.
